About

Direct Action Collective

Tactical gear intelligence built on field testing, community consensus, and data. No brand deals. No advertiser influence. One composite score that tells you what's worth carrying.

Why DAC Exists

Gear reviews online fall into two categories: brand-funded content dressed up as editorial, and forum posts from one guy who owns one rifle. Neither gives you what you need when the stakes are real.

DAC aggregates expert testing, verified community ownership data, and published third-party research into a single composite score. We weight it honestly. We disclose our affiliates. We flag uncertainty rather than paper over it.

The content we prioritize covers gear used by US Army Rangers (75th Ranger Regiment), SOCOM units, and the law enforcement community — equipment proven in the worst conditions, not staged on a YouTube range.

DAC was founded by a former 75th Ranger Regiment Ranger who got tired of scouring the internet for gear reviews he could actually trust. Most of what he found was brand-funded content dressed up as editorial, forum opinions from people who'd never carried the gear downrange, or YouTube reviews optimized for sponsors rather than operators. DAC exists to fix that — a composite scoring system built from the ground up, sourced from operator field reports, verified community data, and manufacturer specifications. No press samples. No brand relationships. No paid placements. Just the verdict on what's worth carrying.

DAC is a sole owner-operated publication. AI is used to research and aggregate data across manufacturer specs, operator field reports, and community consensus — bringing you a more comprehensive evaluation than any single reviewer could produce alone.

The editorial standards, scoring formula, and commitment to accuracy are entirely human.

Editorial Independence

Affiliate commission rates never influence review scores. We disclose every program we participate in on our Disclosure page.

No manufacturer provides gear for review consideration. All reviews are based on publicly available data, community ownership reports, and independent testing.

A review with a 6.2 score that drives no affiliate clicks is worth more to us than a fraudulent 9.5 that erodes trust.

When data is unavailable or uncertain, we say so explicitly. We do not estimate or invent specifications.

Who We Are

DAC is an independent project built by people who have run this gear in conditions that matter — not just YouTube channels or press junkets. Our contributors include active and former military, law enforcement, and serious civilian users with documented long-term ownership.

We use AI to research, draft, and verify content at scale — and every review is checked against real-world data before publication. The technology accelerates the work; the standards are non-negotiable.
